Our Story: From Vision to Community

Sanctuary Communities was born from a simple conviction: healing happens best in community.

For years, we watched people make remarkable progress in treatment, only to return to environments of isolation, temptation, or spiritual emptiness. They had the tools, but not the community. They had the skills, but not the support. They had knowledge, but not the daily practice of faith alongside others.
We believed there had to be another way. Then we looked to the early church, where believers “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). They shared life together. They held one another accountable. They grew in faith not as individuals, but as a body. Sanctuary Communities is our attempt to recapture that vision: a place where Christian discipleship isn’t a Sunday activity but a daily reality. Where structure provides stability and community provides belonging. Where people from many different backgrounds and circumstances come together under one roof and one faith.

Our Mission

To provide faith-based residential community where adults can pursue work, education, ministry, or healing services while living in authentic Christian fellowship marked by discipleship, prayer, service, and mutual support.

What Makes Us Different?

We're Not a Treatment Program
While residents may pursue clinical services elsewhere, Sanctuary Communities is not a treatment facility. We’re a Christian community where people live, grow, and serve together.

We're Not a Recovery Residence
Residency is not limited to people with substance use challenges or contingent on participation in any recovery program. We welcome people from all walks of life who desire Christian community.

We Are a Ministry
Our staff aren’t just employees; they’re ministers. Everything we do flows from our faith in Christ and our commitment to loving one another as He loved us.

We Are a Home
This isn’t institutional living with religious programming. It’s a home where brothers and sisters in Christ share meals, share struggles, share victories, and share life.

Sanctuary Communities and our Connection to Sanctuary Clinics

Sanctuary Communities is part of the Sanctuary family, which includes Sanctuary Clinics, a leading provider of Christ-centered mental health and addiction treatment. While we operate as separate entities with different purposes, we share a common vision: whole-person healing through the integration of faith and excellence.

Residents who need clinical services have the option to pursue treatment at Sanctuary Clinics while living in our community. But many residents have no clinical needs at all. They’re simply here for the community.
