Joining Sanctuary Communities is a straightforward process designed to ensure we’re a good fit for one another. Here’s what to expect.

Step-by-Step Process

Step 1
Initial Conversation
Reach out to us by phone or through our inquiry form. We’ll schedule a conversation to learn about your situation, answer your questions, and determine whether Sanctuary Communities aligns with your needs and goals. This is a no-pressure conversation; we simply want to understand how we might serve you.
Step 2
Application
If we both sense a good fit, we’ll invite you to complete an application. This helps us understand your background, circumstances, and what you’re hoping to gain from community living. We review applications thoughtfully, looking not for perfection but for readiness and willingness.
Step 3
Interview & Tour
We’ll schedule an interview, either in person or via video call, to go deeper. If possible, we encourage you to visit the community and see the space, meet some residents, and get a feel for the environment. There’s nothing like experiencing community firsthand.
Step 4
Decision & Agreement
If we both agree that Sanctuary Communities is the right fit, we’ll walk through our community guidelines and residency agreement. This ensures everyone understands expectations and commits to honoring the community. Once agreements are signed, we’ll schedule your move-in date.
Step 5
Welcome to the Community
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by staff and introduced to your fellow residents. The first few days focus on orientation: learning rhythms, understanding expectations, and beginning to build relationships. You’re not just moving in; you’re joining a family.

Duration & Cost

Length of Stay

Most residents stay for 30, 60, or 90 days. Some choose extended stays of up to 12 months. We work with each person to determine the right timeline for their circumstances and goals.

For Those Also Pursuing Treatment

If you’re coming to Sanctuary Communities while receiving partial hospitalization (PHP) or outpatient services at Sanctuary Clinics, the process is coordinated between our teams. Your clinical care team will work with our community staff to ensure seamless support. You’ll receive expert treatment during the day and return to authentic Christian community each evening.
